THE EVOLUTION OF DRAIN ACE
The idea for the court/deck drain cleaning tool I call the Drain Ace was humble in its origin. A few years ago, I was playing tennis one afternoon at my local tennis club, the head pro was preparing to perform the periodic maintenance task of clearing the drains of the main courts to promote efficient water management. Our area had recently experienced periods of hard rain and a significant amount of court material was washed off the court into the drain, filling it up. I was walking to the car preparing to leave but recognized another set of hands would make the workload ahead a lot easier. In the performance of this task, we used tools, while marginally helpful, they were not as specifically tailored for the task. The inefficiency bothered me and I made a first attempt to tailor a tool specifically for this task.

I did not think to start the patent process on the Drain Ace until I played at another local tennis club where the pro was preparing to perform the same task. I inquired how he accomplished the task and I realized there must not be anything on the market available. I started the patent process revising, improving, and submitting subtle changes to the design along the way. I distributed a few of the developmental models to local pros and a tennis court contractor requesting feedback. All the feedback I have received has been VERY POSITIVE. I am now in the final stages of patent application and I am actively producing the Drain Ace for sale knowing that this will make life easier for those who regularly perform this task. I think anyone who has routinely performed this periodic maintenance task of tennis courts will appreciate the tools’ simplicity and efficiency.
Whie the 5” drains are the most common in application to tennis courts, I have adjusted and scaled it to perform the same task in a variety of settings where different size surface water drains are installed to manage water runoff. Since embarking on this venture, I have noticed different size surface drains in pool decks, driveways, and shopping centers

The Drain Ace was created for a part of tennis court maintenance that, through experience, was more dreadfully inefficient than necessary and Id like to demonstrate it for you. Before I demonstrate, a brief demonstration is in order. In periods of heavy rain, the runoff carries the material periodically added to the surface of clay courts and the material winds up in the drain. These drains need to be cleaned of that material. Until now, no tool I am aware of has been designed specifically for such an application. The tools used to perform this task in the past were highly inefficient and ran the risk of damaging the drain in the process by using steel tools on plastic drains. I have performed this task at my local club before and after creation of the Drian Ace and I can tell you there is simply no comparison. But do not take my word for it. After watching the demonstration, turn your attention to the testimonials from other local pros who now use the Drain Ace on their courts.
